I think you may have just sold 'The Makanai' to me. That sounds intriguing!

Yayyyy 👏🏻 Like I said, expect limited plot, but so much relaxing, enveloping, visual loveliness ❤️ Shortish episodes too! 🙌🏻

I'm just catching up with all these newsletters, so this question might be answered in later ones.. Did you stick with Apple TV? I've been on there a couple of months and so far have watched Suspicion, The Morning Show, Loot and now I'm on Shrinking. Suspicion in particular was very good but all have been very watchable.

Thank you so much for working your way through the What This Week back catalogue, Sharon <3

I did cancel AppleTV but that was purely because finances are tight. I was really impressed and will subscribe again when I can. Slow Horses and Bad Sisters were my favourite (and there is definitely more Slow Horses on the way). And I didn't get round to The Morning Show or Severance or Shrinking or Ted Lasso, which all get such positive reviews. I liked their platform too and the ability to pay for streaming seemed straightforward. Not everything shows up on YouTube.

I've been meaning to read Claire Keegan. Your words have only affirmed that. Makanai sounds intriguing. We love slow in this household. As for my week, watching The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy on Apple TV was the highlight of my weekend. Perfect amount of humour when you've been struck down with possible COVID :/ Reading has been somewhat dormant but hoping to pick up Educated again.

So sorry that you're not well, Silvia. Take it easy and maybe the Makanai would be some very comforting TV while you're recovering. Oh I love the idea of The Reluctant Traveller, I read an article about it you might like https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/mar/05/eugene-levy-reluctant-traveler-schitts-creek-interview And yes, you definitely need to read Claire Keegan! So so good.

Sounds like a lovely reading/watching week! I also really enjoyed Fleishman is in Trouble! I need to pick up the book now. Like you I tried it before, but wasn't in the right mood. I'm curious how similar ( or not) they are.

Thanks Emma. Yes I’m kicking myself a little for not trying the book again first, I think the big shift in perspective would probably have had a lot more impact on the page. Great series nonetheless. Am fascinated by Vantablack ⚫️ and loved seeing Seth from the OC back as grown man Seth!
