thanks for the Catton interview, really interesting to read that. I did think the knighthoods thing sounded real and I was so pleased she said that each main character could be seen as Macbeth with their Lady Macbeth, as that was the conclusion I have (some months after reading) come to!
It's a great interview Charlie, glad you enjoyed it too. She's a very intelligent woman and I loved all that insight. I'm very glad she got to stick her two fingers up at the politician! But (despite the title for heaven's sake) I totally missed the Shakespearean nods!! There are definitely no 'good guys'––all a bit shady, and self-motivated, and willing to sacrifice those loudly touted principles when it suits. I'll get a shelf copy and reread at some point.
Honestly, how is it mid May already, and who stole the spring?
In all honesty, I've been so deeply immersed in astro and HD research/study that I've not had much space for anything else lately. We're still working our way, drudgingly, through Succession but we're at a point now where it makes no sense to quit on it. I gotta admit, Tom and Greg scenes are hilarious.
Oh, I did enjoy this interview with Nicholas Braun on Q with Tom Power. (One of the best interviewers in my humble opinion). Here's the link in case anyone's curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue_iyYIYDbk&t=39s
I'm so sorry that you're finding Succession a drudge! (But also secretly glad you're sticking with it!) Tom and Greg are hilarious––a very twisted bromance! Thanks so much for sharing the interview link, I'll watch that right now and then it's Succession night for me. Only three more episodes left ... ever!!
Thanks as ever for these lovely recommendations Claire. Finished The Appeal yesterday... loved it! Thankyou 🌻
Also been watching Servant on Apple TV for the last couple of weeks, down to the final series now and it’s been brilliant, especially Rupert Grint 😀
And also been catching up with How To Get Away With Murder on Netflix.. a series I watched some years back and since discovered they’ve now made a series 5 and 6 ... good stuff. ⭐️
So glad you enjoyed The Appeal, Sharon. You were definitely due a good read. What next?
Is Servant the creepy one? I think I naturally dismiss anything that makes my scaredy-cat alert fire up! 😂
Funny I’ve just been reading about How to Get Away with Murder as I finished Queen Charlotte today (spoiler alert for next week 😂) and was digging out some Shonda Rhimes articles. Love Viola Davis so will have to give it a go.
It’s not that creepy ... I don’t like creepy stuff so take it from me it’s ok to watch 😜
Well I just read very quickly a rubbish TM Logan book, disappointed as I’ve loved all his others. I shouldn’t really say it’s rubbish , what I mean is I didn’t enjoy it , it’s all personal preference really isn’t it? Realised yesterday it’s not very nice to say bad things about any book when the author has put their heart and soul into it. 🌸
Going into the cupboard now to pull another book off the pile randomly.
Absolutely that. Expectations going in definitely make a difference. And sometimes it's a 'rubbish' read because it's not the right time for us/we're not in the mood.
I hope I’ll encourage you to shuffle it up the pile! I keep wanting to reread it, I have such fond memories. And there’s a TV adaptation of that now too.
Even dressed as a cat! 😂 Exactly that Luisa, and that really takes a certain something! Let me know if you read/watch any of the recs, Guilt and Small Worlds are my ultimates from a great line-up!

“Very well, I accept your blackmail” 🤣

Hope the pile delivers the goods!
I still haven’t read The Luminaries and it’s been sitting on my TBR-pile for ages now.

This makes me go back to circa 2008, seeing him perform with 30 Seconds to Mars. He definitely has a soft spot in my heart too. ❤️
51 apparently! How is that possible?!
